Buckwheat Porridge
Last week we enjoyed a bowl of warming buckwheat porridge. The buckwheat was a feature on the Harvest Table. Cries of joy were heard from almost every child...."This is the best porridge I've ever tasted!!!"
So here's the recipe for all those people who want to try it..... YUM!!!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Buckwheat groats
2 cups Rolled Oats
1/2 - 1 tsp cinnamon
Vita soy original
Method:
Soak buckwheat groats in water over night.
In the morning strain, rinse and drain.
In a pot boil 2 cups water.
In a bowl mix rolled oats, cinnamon and buckwheat groats together and add vita soy until the mixture is creamy.
Add oat mixture to the boiling water and boil for 2 minutes.
Serve with runny honey or brown sugar on top.

HANGI
What a fantastic hangi we had - the kai was delicious! Many thanks to Duk and Ripeka for their guidance and cooking lunch for us. Room 3 children were very proud of their harakeke rourou that they had made to eat their kai off. Thank you so much to Gerry and Jamie for teaching us how to make them.
