Te Reo Maori lessons

Today we looked at our flax bushes and learned where you can take the flax from.  We should never take the babies (young shoots).  Whaea Jaci had harvested some flower stems from the korari (native NZ flax).  We began to sand them with sandpaper so that the rakau would be ready to use.  We can't wait to learn how to use them.

Study Ladder

There are only a few children who have regularly completed activities on the Study Ladder site.  In fact only a few have done ANY activities.  This is a great place to practice reading, writing and maths.  I have set tasks for each child that will be at their personal level of achievement.  Please take a look, complete some activities and earn a certificate!  Who can earn the most points?  Next week there will be a competition for points.  There are also Olympic resources at the moment so see what you can learn about the Olympic Games and bring your new knowledge to share at school.

It's FUN!  Spend your points and decorate your virtual bedroom  :-)

Term 3

Well that was the fastest set of holidays ever!  I hope you've all had a wonderful couple of weeks together.  A break from routine is always welcome isn't it?

Term 3 is a shorter term so I'm sure it will fly by just as fast as our holidays have.  Our topics are centred on the Olympic Games and following on from this country studies.

We are reintroducing Buddy Reading this term where children will have an older buddy to share their books with each week.  This is a magical part of our week and children can build up relationships with their buddy.
